If you’d prefer a more subtle approach to your orthodontic treatment, King Orthodontics offers Clarity™ clear braces.
What is the difference between Clarity™ braces and metal braces?
There’s not much difference between Clarity™ braces and traditional metal braces other than the fact that they’re clear. Clarity™ uses brackets, wires, and elastic ties and offers the same kind of careful positioning as metal brackets. In fact, the only difference is in the material that’s used to create the brackets.
What are the advantages and disadvantages to Clarity™ braces?
Clarity™braces are an attractive option, but they’re not right for everyone. The doctors of King Orthodontics will let you know if Clarity™ will fit your lifestyle.
Advantages:
- Appearance: Clarity™ are much less visible than traditional metal braces.
- Confidence: A patient’s self-confidence is very important to us! We find that the choice of Clarity™ braces can help make some patients feel more confident about their appearance while in treatment.
Disadvantages:
- More Fragile: Because Clarity™ brackets are made of a different material, they are more fragile than metal brackets and typically only used on the front teeth.
- Discoloration: Clarity™ braces use clear elastic ties. Eating certain foods, drinking liquids like coffee, tea, or red wine, or smoking can slightly discolor those ties. If you have questions about how to avoid discoloration, ask a member of our clinical team.
