There are several different types of braces, and each delivers excellent results. Our doctors will evaluate you and based on the treatment that is needed they will recommend a type of braces that will give you the best possible outcome.
Metal Braces
These are the most commonly-worn braces and are made from high-grade stainless steel. They adjust your teeth using metal brackets and archwires. You can add a personal touch by using colored elastic ties. Traditional metal braces are more comfortable today than they’ve been in the past.
Clear Braces
Clear braces are less visible than traditional metal braces because they’re made of clear materials. Clear braces are mostly used by adults and those in their late teens because they require the patient to be very careful with their oral hygiene, and also with what they eat and drink. Patients who choose clear braces must take extra care when eating and brushing because they’re not as strong as other metal braces. This type of bracket is more likely to be used on upper front teeth than on lower teeth.
Self-Ligating
Self-ligating braces use a clip system to hold the archwire in place as opposed to the elastic ties used by traditional braces. They typically have a lower profile and cause less discomfort. The clip system allows for the wire to move freely and results in less pressure and friction on the tooth. Self-ligating braces are made of the same type of materials as traditional braces and are equally as strong.
Lingual Braces
Lingual braces are braces that are applied behind the teeth and so can’t be seen when you smile. They are customized to match the shape of each tooth for each patient. These kind of braces fit the lifestyles of athletes, actors/actresses, models, and musicians who play wind instruments.
