You will adapt! With a little patience, your speech will improve as you adjust. Your tongue will heal and toughen up. You will get better at cleaning around the brackets, just like you would have the same learning curve with traditional braces.
Invisalign aligners are removable trays similar to a retainer. There are no metal brackets or wires needed, and nothing is permanently fixed to your teeth as they are with traditional braces or lingual braces. What does this mean for you? The upside is:
The challenges? Because you can remove them, you may be tempted to do so. Do not! Follow the treatment plan precisely if you want the desired result. You’ll still have speech impediments in the beginning, as you would with any orthodontic treatment. You may be able to eat or drink whatever you want, but you still must be diligent about brushing your teeth immediately after so that the lingering sugars do not stay pressed up against your teeth.
Using 3D technology, we will custom make aligners for you. You will wear them 20-22 hours a day, removing them only to eat, drink, floss and brush. Every two weeks you will change to a new set of aligners. Your teeth will gradually shift into better alignment over the course of treatment.
