Teenagers usually agree that the process of having their teeth straightened so they’ll have a great, healthy smile isn’t one of their favorite things. Most high schoolers aren’t interested in a mouth that’s full of metal, even though proper orthodontic treatment is one of the best things that you can do for your oral health.
Fortunately, there are other options that will straighten teeth but don’t use traditional metal braces. Invisalign Teen, a product of the Invisalign family of orthodontic care, is what King Orthodontics in Wexford recommends for teens who would like to have a great smile without the look and feel of metal.
Invisalign Teen offers these advantages:
- It’s nearly invisible. Just as the name suggests, Invisalign is made of strong plastic instead of metal. Your teen’s teeth will be straightened by customized plastic aligners that gently push teeth into position. These aligners are changed to a new set every two weeks (which can be done at home – no need to visit the orthodontist for that change, unlike metal braces). Eventually, your teen’s teeth will be perfectly straight, and no one will even know!
- It’s removable. That’s right – you can take them out! While Invisalign Teen’s aligners must be in your mouth at least 22 hours a day, you can still take them out when you’re eating and drinking (which means that you don’t have to avoid certain foods that are unfriendly to metal braces) and when you’re brushing and flossing. Teens also take them out during special occasions, like Prom.
- It’s comfortable. Since Invisalign Teen is custom-designed as a plastic retainer, instead of metal, it fits right around your teeth, doesn’t cut into your gums, and doesn’t irritate the inside of your mouth. You won’t even know that they’re in!
Invisalign Teen comes with several extra aligners, since we know that active teens could misplace their aligners after eating.
