Orthodontic Treatment Process | King Orthodontics

Treatment Process

You may be somewhat familiar with how the Invisalign® treatment works, but we’d like to take you through each step of the treatment process, from consultation to confident smile.

Whether you’re considering treatment for yourself or someone else, knowing more about the entire process can help you be more confident in your decision to choose Invisalign® and enjoy a better smile every day.

1.Speak to an Experienced Invisalign® Provider

You’ll want to talk to an experienced Invisalign® provider first to determine if this System is the right one for you. Dr. King’s office is proud to be Pittsburgh’s leading Invisalign® provider, and our orthodontists have treated more than 2,500 cases. We have offices in both Wexford and Pittsburgh for your convenience. You can contact our office, and we’ll schedule a complimentary consultation. During the consultation, you and Dr. King will discuss your treatment as it relates to your overall dental plan. If you have questions about how the Invisalign® process is designed and how it works, please ask. We can also talk to you about dental and orthodontic insurance.

2.Your Treatment Plan is Developed

Dr. King and his staff will take pictures and X-rays of your mouth and jaw, as well as impressions of your teeth. These are sent to Invisalign®, and they will develop a 3-D image of your teeth. Dr. King will look at these images and determine your customized treatment plan. The plan will show you how long your treatment should take and exactly how your teeth will move into place. How long will your treatment take? It depends on many different factors, but generally speaking, it’s about a year to complete the adult treatment plan. Teens use Invisalign® for about as long as they would be wearing braces.

3.Clear, Customized Aligners are Designed for You

Dr. King will receive your aligners and then he’ll review their use with you. You will wear them at least 20-22 hours a day, and you can remove them to eat and to brush your teeth. Since your aligners are made of smooth plastic and are completely customized to fit your mouth, you should be very comfortable wearing them.

4.Switch Your Aligners Every Two Weeks

Each aligner set remains in your mouth for about two weeks, and then you will switch to the next set. Every set is designed to take over from the last set as they gently move your teeth into position. You’ll be able to see the improvement in your smile during the treatment, and you’ll return to Dr. King’s office every 4 to 6 weeks for regular checkups to ensure that the treatment is producing the desired results.

5.Show Off Your Brand New Smile!

After you’ve completed your treatment, it’s time to remove the aligners and SMILE! You may need to wear a retainer for some time to ensure that your teeth stay in position. Be sure to continue proper dental care after you are done using the Invisalign® system.

Excellence In Service

I have 4 children who are patients of King Orthodontics and we always look forward to our visits. The atmosphere is relaxing and the staff is kind, & courteous. To top it off, we have never had to wait more than 10 minutes or so! Dr. King... and Dr. Bryan, are kind and knowledgeable and easily accessible too. I can’t say enough about this practice!

I just wanted to take a minute to write and let you know what a wonderful addition Dr. DeMiria is to your office. I was in twice this week and saw Dr. DeMiria on Monday for the first time. She is absolutely wonderful - just so nice and she really seems to be invested in her patients. The entire staff at Wexford office is wonderful and Dr. DeMiria is just icing on the cake.

I absolutely love King Orthodontics!! The staff are so friendly and actually care about you and your teeth. Almost everyone who works there knows you by name which is very uncommon for a place with so many patients. It is so worth the hour drive it takes me to get there. I would highly recommend King Orthodontics to anyone!!!!!
